Fabulous Things About China
The food!
The people, who have been so incredibly nice everywhere we've gone, even when we were the only western faces and clearly an oddity!
You can almost always find someone who speaks enough English to get by (can you say that in America? That you could find someone who speaks a second language with passing fluency? Yes, but not to the extent over here!)
The nannies in the SWIs. I can only speak of Chuzhou, but it's so clear that they adore these kids, and how bittersweet it must be to see them head off to their new families.
This is the "grandma" who was especially close to Chenchen. She is pictured and mentioned all over the book about Chenchen that Director Dou gave us when we visited the SWI.
The prices ... what can I say? It really is fun to shop!
Shamian Island -- it's gorgeous here!
The Great Wall.... WOW

Director Dou at Chuzhou! A wonderfully compassionate man with really great taste in Chinese food and wine!
(Picture is Director Dou and the fabulous food and wine!)
And the number one fabulous thing about China???? It's the birthplace of Princess Isabella Chenchen!!!!

Hi Julie, You don't know me but my sister-in-law and her husband should have arrived at the White Swan sometime yesterday. Their Gottcha day was also supposed to be yesterday. We have not heard from them for 2 days since they left Bejing. Their last name is Elliott (Tim and Annette) and they are with Holt International. If you happen to come across them, please tell them to call and let us know they are okay. Congrats on your new beautiful daughter. Best wishes to all of you! Thank you, Cheryl

Cheryl -- I hope you caught up with your family and all was well! I saw your comment the night before we left, so I didn't meet anyone new that night or early in the morning. Your family is in my thoughts! Hopefully they've just been plagued by Internet and phone issues!
Julie
